Anastasia Kolobrodova is a Public Diplomacy graduate student at Syracuse University. She holds a B.A. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Kansas, has worked as an assistant English teacher in Lyon, France, and has traveled across the northern half of the United States by train. At present, Anastasia is researching the security implications of Web 2.0, the differences in cultural attitudes between Eastern and Western Europe, and how interactive technologies can be used to encourage participation in group activities.

Broadcast journalism graduate student at the Newhouse School of Public Communications by way of various experiences in the media industry including working two years in live radio broadcasting. I found my passion for journalism and media through various interests including politics, sports (track and field and many others), international relations, and social media.

Currently I am a senior at Liverpool High School where I am a member of their print/ online newspaper staff, "The Lifeguard". As the associate editor, I hope to keep learning and put that knowledge towards pursuing a career in journalism in the near future.

After 25 years as an executive at Saatchi & Saatchi, I joined the Newhouse School in 2008. I teach advertising, interactive advertising and ebranding, and advertising management and practice.

Clare Merrick works as a publications coordinator for Syracuse University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in print journalism from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. She’s written on the effects of emerging nanotechnology in digital media and about on-line privacy issues for Newhouse graduate class, Trendspotting in Digital Media.

Matt Friedman is co-founder of Tanner Friedman Strategic Communications, headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He is a former broadcast journalist in three major markets and a 1994 graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

I am a third year doctoral student at the Newhouse School. My research involves media literacy and popular culture. My specific focus involves working with vulnerable and marginalized populations in education on media and society.
Patricia LongstaffPatricia Longstaff
Longstaff has been on the Newhouse Faculty since 1995. She is the David Levidow Professor of Communication Law and Policy and specializes in the business and public policy issues affecting the communications industry in the US and internationally. In addition to a law degree and a masters degree in mass communication from the University of Iowa, she received a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard in 1994. She practiced communication and corporate law for 18 years, representing newspapers, broadcasters, advertising agencies and telephone companies.

Ron SteinmanRon Steinman
Professional Ron Steinman is executive editor and a columnist for online magazines, The Digital Journalist and The Digital Filmmaker. An award-winning producer for NBC News and NBC's Today Show, he served as bureau chief in Saigon during the Vietnam War, and later as bureau chief in Hong Kong and London. At ABC News Productions, he produced documentaries for A&E, TLC, The History Channel, and Discovery. He is currently an independent documentary producer, director and writer through his company, Douglas/Steinman Productions. He is the author of five books, including “Inside Television’s First War: A Saigon Journal,” that details how NBC News covered the war in Vietnam.

Stephen MasiclatStephen Masiclat
Stephen Masiclat is director of the Newhouse School’s graduate program in media management. Also a member of the school’s news and online journalism department, he joined the faculty in 1995 and created the school’s first classes in web and online media. In addition to teaching at the Newhouse School, he is a principal of 315 Design, a communications and online design consultancy he co-founded with two of his former students. He also serves on the board of directors of LegendsChannel.com. A distinguished teacher, he is the only Newhouse faculty member to receive both of the Newhouse School’s award for undergraduate teaching excellence (2000 ) and Syracuse University’s Excellence in Graduate Education Faculty Recognition Award (2010). Valerie SchweisbergerValerie Schweisberger
Valerie Schweisberger is a Ph.D. Candidate at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Her research entails qualitative analysis of LGBTQ media effects and representations. She has presented work at both regional and national conventions of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications, as well as at the Popular Culture Association’s annual convention. She currently resides in Syracuse, NY.
